Yes. Kent Reliance says its Easy Access Cash ISA is now flexible, so money withdrawn during 2026/27 can generally be replaced in the same tax year without using that amount of your ISA allowance again, subject to the account terms and ISA rules.

What a flexible ISA actually means

A flexible ISA lets you take money out and put it back during the same tax year without that replacement using fresh ISA allowance. GOV.UK gives a simple example: with a £20,000 annual allowance, putting in £10,000 leaves £10,000 of unused allowance. If you then withdraw £3,000 from a flexible ISA, you can put up to £13,000 back in during that tax year. That is the key difference from a non-flexible ISA.

Kent Reliance said on 28 September 2026 that its Easy Access Cash ISA had been made flexible. It also says its new online services give customers a single view of Kent Reliance ISAs held under its new customer-level wrapper. The flexibility is about how withdrawals can be replaced; it does not mean every Kent Reliance ISA has identical withdrawal terms.

The ISA allowance for 2026/27

For the tax year running from 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027, the overall adult ISA subscription limit is £20,000. You can use the allowance across Cash, Stocks and Shares, Innovative Finance and Lifetime ISAs, subject to the separate rules for a Lifetime ISA.

A flexible feature does not give you extra annual allowance on top of £20,000. It lets you reuse an amount that has already been paid in, but only if the money is withdrawn and replaced within the same tax year and the provider's ISA is genuinely flexible.

The same-tax-year rule matters

Suppose you paid £15,000 into a flexible Cash ISA during 2026/27, then withdrew £5,000. The amount you can replace without using that £5,000 again is linked to the withdrawal being made and reversed within the same tax year. Carrying an un-replaced withdrawal into the next tax year does not preserve the same flexibility.

This is why a flexible ISA can be useful for someone who expects temporary cash needs. You might use the money for a tax bill, a short period between jobs or a large planned payment, then restore the savings later. The tax-free status of the ISA continues while the money is in the account.

Not all ISAs are flexible

Flexibility is a product feature, not a general right attached to every ISA. MoneyHelper says some Cash ISAs and some Stocks and Shares ISAs offer flexible treatment, but not all do. Junior ISAs and Lifetime ISAs do not have the same flexible-withdrawal facility.

So if you have more than one ISA, do not assume that a withdrawal from one can always be replaced into another without consequences. The safest approach is to confirm the exact wrapper and terms with the provider before you move money out.

What is special about Kent Reliance?

Kent Reliance's current information says its Easy Access Cash ISA is now flexible. It also says you can withdraw money and pay it back into any of its Cash ISAs that accept deposits, provided the replacement happens in the same tax year. That is slightly broader than simply saying you can return it to the exact same account.

The current product range also distinguishes Easy Access and Fixed Rate ISAs. An Easy Access ISA is designed for access, while a fixed-rate account has its own maturity and withdrawal conditions. Flexibility under ISA rules therefore should not be confused with a promise that every withdrawal from a fixed account is penalty-free.

What changes from April 2027?

There is an important upcoming change, although it does not reduce the 2026/27 overall allowance. From 6 April 2027, the annual Cash ISA subscription limit for people under 65 will be £12,000 within the overall £20,000 ISA limit. People aged 65 or over will retain a £20,000 Cash ISA limit.

That means someone planning a large cash contribution should distinguish between the tax year that is open now and the rules that start on 6 April 2027. The current 2026/27 rules remain a £20,000 overall ISA limit and a £20,000 Cash ISA limit.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Thinking a flexible ISA increases the overall ISA allowance. It does not; it lets you replace qualifying withdrawals during the same tax year.
  • Assuming every ISA is flexible. Check the provider's terms and the specific account, not just the word ISA.
  • Withdrawing and replacing money after the tax year ends and expecting the same allowance treatment.
  • Closing an ISA and reopening elsewhere instead of using the formal ISA transfer process when moving existing ISA savings.

When a flexible Cash ISA can be useful

Flexibility has most value when your savings need to remain available but you still want the tax treatment of an ISA. It is less important when the money is genuinely long-term and you know you will not need to draw it down. Compare the rate, access conditions, transfer rules and any withdrawal restrictions alongside flexibility rather than treating flexibility as the only feature that matters.

Illustrative ISA allowance after a flexible withdrawal
Unused before withdrawal£10,000Effective unused capacity after withdrawal£13,000

Worked example

Illustrative example: Priya puts £10,000 into a flexible Kent Reliance Cash ISA during 2026/27. Her overall ISA allowance is £20,000, so before any withdrawal she has £10,000 of unused allowance.

  • Initial unused allowance: £20,000 - £10,000 = £10,000.
  • Withdrawal: she takes out £3,000 for a temporary expense.
  • Effective replacement capacity: £10,000 + £3,000 = £13,000, provided the £3,000 is replaced within the same tax year under the flexible rules, assuming the withdrawal is eligible for flexible treatment.

The £3,000 withdrawal itself is not a new contribution. The benefit is that Priya can restore that amount without consuming that same £3,000 of the 2026/27 allowance again. This is illustrative; the account's own terms still control access and charges.

Is Kent Reliance Easy Access Cash ISA flexible?#

Yes. Kent Reliance said on 28 September 2026 that its Easy Access Cash ISA had been made flexible. That means you can withdraw money and, subject to the ISA rules and the provider's conditions, replace it during the same tax year without the replacement counting against the annual allowance again.

Can I withdraw from a flexible ISA and put the money back?#

Yes, provided the ISA is genuinely flexible and you replace the withdrawal in the same tax year. The flexibility is about restoring an amount you previously withdrew; it is not permission to exceed the overall annual ISA subscription limit across your accounts.

Does a flexible ISA give me more than the £20,000 allowance?#

No. The 2026/27 adult ISA allowance remains £20,000. Flexibility can let you reuse an amount withdrawn from a flexible ISA, but it does not create a second allowance or increase the annual limit above the amount set by the ISA rules.

Can I replace a flexible ISA withdrawal next tax year?#

The special flexible treatment is tied to the same tax year. A withdrawal made in 2026/27 cannot simply be carried into 2027/28 and assumed to be replaceable without using allowance. Check the exact timing with the provider before taking money out late in the tax year.

Are all Cash ISAs flexible?#

No. Flexibility is optional. MoneyHelper says providers can offer a flexible facility, but not every Cash ISA has it. Check the product terms before withdrawing money that you expect to replace, especially if you hold several ISA accounts with different providers.

Will the Cash ISA limit change in 2027?#

Yes, from 6 April 2027 the Cash ISA subscription limit will be £12,000 for people under 65, within the overall £20,000 ISA limit. People aged 65 or over will retain a £20,000 Cash ISA limit under the published 2027 rules.

Can I transfer a flexible ISA to another provider?#

Yes, but use the ISA transfer process if you want to keep the money inside the tax-free wrapper. Do not simply withdraw and reinvest elsewhere, because that can change the allowance treatment. The new provider will handle the transfer paperwork.
