How to calculate hours between two times
Convert both times to minutes after midnight, subtract, and convert back. 9:15 AM is 555 minutes and 5:45 PM is 1,065 minutes, so the gap is 510 minutes = 8 hours 30 minutes = 8.5 hours. If the end time is earlier, the span crossed midnight: add 24 hours.
| Period | Hours |

| 1 day | 24 |

| Full-time work year (40 h × 52) | 2,080 |
